solid wood flooringThis flooring is made from pieces of wood that are one solid piece from top to bottom. The thickness of the wood is generally from ¾”, but is occasionally milled to 5/16” or 3/8” thickness for glue down installation. It can come from the mill already stained and finished, or it can be finished at the jobsite after being installed and sanded.

Most solid hardwood floors require a nail down installation over a wood subfloor. If you have concrete in your home, we can install a plywood subfloor for you. Thinner solid wood floors, in 3/8” or 5/16” thickness, are designed for glue down installation over concrete.

Giving you a great opportunity for customization, your choice of species, stains and finishes all contribute to the personalization of a solid floor. This is an excellent choice in most areas of a home on the ground level or above.

3/4” thick, solid flooring is an excellent choice in most areas of a home on the ground level or above. It can be sanded and refinished many times, giving it a long life and allowing you to change your décor without having to install new flooring.

Solid hardwood flooring is the traditional material found in homes and commercial buildings all over the world. This type of flooring is original to our historic homes here in Tampa. Many of these floors are over 100 years old and still have years of wear left in them

In Tampa Bay, a consideration in product choice is moisture. Chris will discuss with you the advisability of using solid wood, and help you determine whether or not it is the best choice for your application. In most instances solid wood floors perform very well in Florida and can be used in your home.

The three main styles of solid wood flooring are:

Strip flooring is available only in widths of 1 ½ “, 2” and 2 ¼ ".  This is your typical flooring that is found in older houses and gymnasiums here in Tampa Bay.

Plank flooring is offered in a variety of widths from 3” to 12”.  Boards of differing widths can be combined to form an interesting floor.

Parquet flooring is made up of geometrical patterns composed of individual wood slats held in place by mechanical fastening or an adhesive. Parquet can be purchased as a precut pattern, or, we can create a custom parquet for you.

We have samples of many of these brands in our Tampa showroom. Call for an appointment to view them, or fill out our contact form. Of course, we are always happy to bring samples to your home.
